Hassan Tahir | YC Founder + AI About I'm Hassan 👋🏽 I love building products. I love Maths. I love AI. Naturally, I’ve found myself at the intersection of machine learning and software engineering, as a Full Stack Machine Learning Engineer over the last decade. I’m currently the Founder & CTO of Taxo (YC S24), where we’re building autonomous healthcare by combining cutting-edge NLP and software to streamline processes like prior auths, clinical reviews, and claims. We’re backed by Y Combinator, Character, and General Catalyst. Previously, I was the Lead Deep Learning Engineer at Chattermill, where I joined as the 4th hire and helped scale the company from 6 to 80+ people and to 8-figure revenue. I led the development of AI-powered products from scratch, working with transformer-based architectures like RoBERTa, GPT-1/2/3, and experimenting with few-shot and zero-shot methods as new LLMs emerged. I also authored ML research published in scientific journals. I graduated with a degree in Mathematics from UCL in 2017. While banking jobs were calling, I had already spent 7+ years building websites and side projects. Inspired by founder stories (and The Social Network), I knew I’d eventually start something, but first, I wanted to experience building from the inside. So I joined Chattermill post-graduation and spent nearly 7 years across roles in data, ML, and engineering. I wore many hats: building supervised and unsupervised NLP models, scaling teams, deploying LLM-based summarisation features, and leading research-to-production efforts on sentiment analysis and topic modelling. Outside of work, I enjoy building side projects to sharpen my full stack chops. My go-to stack includes React, Next.js, Django, TailwindCSS, PyTorch, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL.
