How to Sell Your Company’s Data to AI Labs

By Artificial Jobs · Published · Data updated

Companies can sell their internal data to AI labs through data partnership programs run by micro1 and Mercor, which pay $100K–$2M+ (micro1) and up to $1.5M (Mercor) for approved data. Labs want records of real work: internal chat, process documentation, project files and operational records that show how professionals actually do their jobs. Even companies that have shut down can qualify, because their archives still hold that history.

Why AI labs buy company data

Models have already been trained on much of the public web. What they still lack is the messy, multi-step reality of work inside a company: how a team scopes a project, resolves an incident or closes a deal. Anonymised internal records are one of the few sources of that.

micro1 says approved data packages earn the company $100K–$2M+, depending on size and quality.

What Mercor is buying

Mercor publishes the company types it is looking for and what each can earn:

Mercor applications go through data.mercor.com, with referral code HMFNVJTM.

How the process works

  1. Create a company profile describing your size, industry and the data you hold.
  2. The buyer reviews whether your data matches what labs are asking for.
  3. If approved, the data is anonymised and packaged, and the company is paid for the approved package.

Before you sell

  • Confirm you own it. For a defunct company, check who holds the rights to its assets after the wind-down.
  • Check privacy obligations. Employee and customer data may be covered by contracts and privacy law in each country you operated in.
  • Get legal review. Have counsel read the data agreement before you sign. This post is not legal advice.
